-how will you set up ur movie screen and surround sound speaker for true movie entertainment ??Both are nice, though a Projector requires a darker room and little more preparation, projector warmup, closing the blinds, etc. Watching movies with a projector, gets closer to the actual cinema experience, which is nice. LCD on the other hand is more casual, doesn't require a dark room and in some cases, colors and details pop more. If you have a big LCD like 55 inches, the experience can be as enjoyable as a projector, though certainly not as a grand as having a whole wall projected as your screen. I think both are equally enjoyable, it just depends on your preferences and how your home theater is setup.
Having a good surround sound system is just as essential to the experience and will make the visuals have more impact. My suggestion for sound is to build your home theater system piece by piece with quality components. Like buy a good receiver first from a brand like Onkyo, Denon, Pioneer or Yamaha. Then start buying the separate speakers from quality brands like Klipsch, Kef, Polk Audio, etc. when you see them on sale. Try to make sure to match the speakers to the same model lines/brands to keep the sound consistent, so buy matching pairs of LR, Surrounds and make sure you get a really good center channel(center carries about 50% of the sound). Probably most importantly, get a great subwoofer like HSU, SVS, Klipsch, etc. that can crank it for nice low frequency impact.
Hope this helps, good luck.
