-my optical cable is red only on one end of the cable... is this right? or is my cable fried? The red light is the light coming from whatever you have the optical cable plugged into...
It's like holding a flashlight up to a tube... will the light still be there if you take away the flashlight?
Anyways, your cable is fine.
it is only red on the end opposite where it is plugged into the sound source

I can't connect my Xbox 360 Slim to the Surround Sound?
-I've been trying to connect my Xbox 360 Slim to my surround sound system for a long time now, and I just can not get it to work! On the Xbox website it says to plug the HDMI cable into the TV for video, and then connect one end of the digital audio cable to the Xbox, and the other to the receiver. I do this, and the sound is still only coming from the TV. I've tried changing a million settings on the receiver itself, but I still can't get it to work! Any help? What type of surround sound do you have, is it a receiver or one of them home theater in a box. Home theater in a box are not very flexible in adding anything to it and normally will only have an optical audio input if any. those bargain price home theater some time only have an rca jack for stereo input at most. If you have your XBOX connected to the tv via HDMI, the you need to connect an optical audio from the tv to the home theater or receiver to have sound. If you have a receiver you can connect the XBOX directly to the receiver using HDMI cable and then connect the receiver to the tv using HDMI cable. Keep in mind if you use HDMI cable that you set your XBOX to output the video and audio via HDMI cable. Receiver usually will have at less two set of input for the optical audio. Hope this will help you out.

How do I configure my speakers?
-Hello,
I am trying to connect my speakers so that they can be used by my television, dvd player and pc. Could someone please offer me some suggestions? It is a bass unit and two speakers.
ThanksIf your speakers have a built it amplifier with only one input then connect it to TV audio output (I hope your TV has it).
Connect DVD player and PC to TV (either with HDMI or any other connection, don't forget to connect the audio to TV's audio ins)
It may not work very nicely if you use PC without TV - then you need some kind of selector device
If you just have speakers and you still need an amplifier than you are in luck - just get and AV receiver with sufficient number of inputs and you are good. I also suggest Logitech Harmony remotes - they can automatically switch your receiver's inputs depending on your activity.I second Aleks answer... you need a receiver ..... and the Harmony remotes are awesome, I own several however they are few bucks though. You can buy a decent receiver used for around $100 if you don't need to have all the latest technology flavours of the year

Is 1/4 880 220?............?
-How pathetic.Since you obviously know how to use a computer, you could use the "Calculator" function found under "Accessories"...or you could learn to do simple arithmetic like this in your head...
yes, pathetic.

I have a question about the Panasonic DMP-BD60 DVD/Blu-ray player?
-I've been trying to get my video files to play on it, a burned DVD does not work, nor my USB drive or my SDHC card. What file format do these need to be in?? I've tried .avi (Xvid and DivX), all kinds of .mpg's, working on AVCHD now...also NTSC, etc. DVD formats. Nothing I've tried seems to work, does anyone know what file format any of those needs? Thank you, and much appreciation!
