-Hey guys. I'm having some trouble with my Xbox 360 and hooking up some sound.
The setup:
Upstairs I have my Xbox hooked up to a little TV. Nothing special.
Downstairs, there is a bigger TV with the DVD player hooked up to it. The DVD player (Sony) has 'receiver' written on the back and delivers 5.1 surround sound when I'm watching DVDs. On this DVD player, there is unfortunately no optical in port. Each speaker plugs in separately at the back. I can move the AV cables from the Video 1 and Video 2 ports on the TV.
So, for the time being, I'm going to set up my a monitor I'm about to buy (Acer P243W) up downstairs with the HDMI cable. Then, I'll use the AV cable from the Xbox and plug it into the DVD player at the back (there is a red and a white port there). This will give me normal stereo sound through the surround sound - yes?
That's fine for now. But at a later stage I have to take the Xbox and monitor back upstairs, that's why I've been looking for speakers. The monitor doesn't have a 3.5mm jack, strangely enough, so I can't use normal computer speakers. This is the real problem. Do you think I should just buy one of these micro DVD systems?

Maybe that Sinotec one for R599 or the one for R799? Then, would it be possible to have that HiFi and the Xbox set up to the speakers?
I do have another DVD player (Sansui) and this one does have an optical port. But, it doesn't have the slots for the surround sound, like on the Sony - it only has an optical in, the normal red white and yellow ports, and then blue, green etc. ports (I don't know what they're for) as well as the video port.
What do you guys think is my best option?
Should I buy a mini hifi and hook it up to the Sansui DVD player (how?) and then plug the optical cable into the DVD player (from the Xbox)
Any advice very much appreciated.
