-I prefer round as I find them easier to work with but flat cables can fit in spaces and slots that round do not well in, also they can be used to run under carpet or rugs or behind bass board...so a lot depends on the application and your special needs and preference, and what you find easier to work with but the sound quality should be about they same...both the same id go for flat
both do the same thing. just depends on your taste.
