-I have an Epson 8100 projector that isn't working right. The lamp has been used for a total of 362 hours as of last nite. I turned it off and went to sleep. When i woke up i went to work and came home hours later. Now it is flashing its lamp light red saying i need a new bulb. But it has a life of 4000 hours. It wont turn on at all, and never showed any warning messages or anything. How do i make it turn back on?!Lamps can fail any time. The 4000 hr rating is an estimate and based on optimum conditions.
Have you had a thunderstorm? Was the lamp cooled properly after each use? Did you avaoid rapid on/off cycles? Do you use a UPS/surge protector?
See the article at the 1st link for proper lamp care practices. That said, as stated earlier, lamps can fail any time.
