Blu ray player vs DVD?

-Guys I bought a new 60" plasma tv. I hooked it up to my DVD player.don't see any difference in resolution from other hd cable channels. Shoul I really get a blu ray player? Does it really make a difference. I know DVD is 480i, but still looks pretty good resolution to me on tv.if your DVD player is connected via HDMI then it may be up converting the image...

if the image is good enough for you then i do not see a reason to buy a blu-ray player...

i passed on the whole bluray fad anyhow.. as i feel that it is just the movie industries last attempt to try to sell you a physical media - i get all of my content now mostly from on demand from my cable company, or streaming from the internet from providers such as netflix or hulu i do not see the need to buy a new player just for the sake of holding a disc in my hand...
If you spent money on an 1080 HDTV and you do not have a Blu Ray player, then you just wasted a few hundred dollars. Blu Ray is pretty much the only way to get 1080 HD. Many people think their HD cable boxes provide 1080, but currently no network broadcasts in anything higher than 720.

Not only does Blu Ray have more than double the pixels, but it also has far superior sound. So if you happen to have a surround sound system, you will be able to tell a difference.

If however, you are one of those people who have a massive TV and are only using the crappy 2" built-in speakers, then you are missing out on a LOT.
